The Physics department was established in 1991. In its history of 33 years it has grown considerably with a vision to inculcate scientific temperament and futuristic thinking in students, by providing them with extensive and diverse knowledge in the Physical sciences, and to conduct cutting-edge research in the Physical sciences. The Department offers Under Graduate programmes which are innovatively designed and updated to keep pace with global trends in academics and industry. The Department emphasizes on experiential learning through various innovative methodologies which include industrial visits, seminars, workshops, guest lectures, exhibitions, projects for the holistic development of the students. Our laboratories also reflect the unique dichotomy of our curricula with general-purpose for core subjects and for research. In addition, the department carries out research in many frontier areas including Nano materials and Nano structures, Chemical sensors & biosensors, and Crystal growth. To date, the department faculties has published 80 research papers in National and International journals. We have a very well equipped Computers, and central research laboratory with modern analytical instruments. College has signed MoU with Dept. of Physics Ahmednagar College, Ahmednagar through the sincere efforts of the faculties of the department. The ratio of students to higher education is good. Every year our students are getting admission for P.G. in the Department of Physics, S.P.P. University. We feel very proud that one of our students has received gold medal in UG and PG. Three students got rank in University results. Our students are employed in different sectors like industries, medical fields, educational fields, etc. We also offer two certificate courses for the student viz. computer literacy and C programming language. We encourage and provide guidance to the students to participate in various curricular, co-curricular and cultural activities. Faculties constantly upgrade themselves by attending Orientation programme, Refresher course, short term course, workshops, seminars, National/International conferences, etc. Dr. N. R. Dhumane Received ‘Bhaskar Raye Memorial Award’ by Indian Physics Association (Pune Chapter) on 3rd Sep. 2016. Department of Physics has received funds from DST-FIST, Delhi.
